Managing a business is difficult. Managing a hospitality business at Bay Area Post-Covid has been particularly difficult.
This industry is seriously affected in the Gulf area and our three main cities should not be recovered in pre-fandemic performance numbers. The San Jose’s hospitality industry has experienced some of the most radical shifts of the country’s market. And, although we still have miles to go, the good news is that despite these shifts, San Jose has the biggest swelling of the Bay area.
Pre-Covid San Jose had some of the highest levels of hotels and professions in the country. This was due to the healthy transitional business travel and large conventions across the country and meetings. As you are aware, we have the largest concentration of technology companies in the world. There are more than 6,600 technology companies in San Jose or within 18 miles downtown. When the world learned how to meet easily through technology and the comfort of their homes, businesses saw that they could shorten travel budgets without compromising efficiency.
With the past past, and the future still unwritten, there have been new opportunities. The purest and safest image of San Jose, accompanied by aggressive work by our destination people and marketing people, downtown leaders, elected officials, sports teams and special events has helped San Jose guide the Gulf Area in the recovery of the hospitality industry. Yes, San Jose’s hospitality industry is getting better than any of our big city neighbors.
In 2023, San Jose visitors’ spending increased 7.5% year by year to reach $ 2.5 billion. This means that about $ 7 million is spent daily by visitors to San Jose. By category, housing of increased costs of visitors, increases of 10%and recreational costs by visitors increased 8%. Food and beverage costs were also recovered to 8%.
December 2024 hotel numbers indicate tremendous growth year by year. Across the country, weekends saw a 24% increase in revenue generated for the available room, with a 17% increase in hotel occupation. Hotels in the city center posted a 48% increase in available room revenue and 42% occupation increase for weekends. Meanwhile, the other two cities in the Gulf area saw all performance numbers decrease for the same time period.
If you are a hospitality business owner San Jose who seeks to enter and take advantage of this moment, there are two new ways.
In an effort to include more local businesses, and to expand the cooperation of the hospitality community, Team San Jose/Visit San Jose is starting the front page of San Jose’s hospitality industry. By name, “Together for San Jose”, the website, received as part of Sanjose.org, will have information on how to partner with all business lines at the Center of Conventions and theaters in the Managed City City By Team San Jose. It will include procurement opportunities, research information on industry mirrors and tendencies, industry links to visit California and travel to US travel for additional knowledge, legislation and policy initiatives.
He will also have information about marketing, communications and sales with how to update your lists online, submit your business or event, download free photos and videos, appear in current media campaigns, including newspapers, social media and creative campaign features.
All of this is to provide even greater support for this important industry and to run visit and income for local businesses.
The second way is to come to meet me at the two-year summit for hospitality, or Bash. All restaurants, retail shops, cultural attractions, entertainment places, tour operators and hospitality organizations are welcome to meet industry peers and make connections.
Bash with the start of the website is Thursday, February 6 from 4-6 pm in Grand Ballroom at the San Jose Mcenery Convention Center. Please sign up in advance and join us to learn more about our community, the $ 3.5 billion visitors’ economy of San Jose and ways to keep San Jose move forward.
